Salehi made the remarks during a speech at a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the kidnapping incident.
During his speech, Salehi stated that there is evidence that the diplomats are alive and are being held by the Zionist regime, calling on the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross to take immediate measures to help obtain their release.
He also said that the Foreign Ministry is making every effort to help free the diplomats.
Four Iranian nationals, chargé d’affaires Mohsen Mousavi, military attaché of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmad Motevasellian, Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam, a diplomat from the embassy, and Kazem Akhavan, a reporter and photographer from the Islamic Republic News Agency, were captured by a Phalangist militia while traveling to southern Lebanon in 1982, then handed over to the Zionist regime and transferred to a prison in the occupied Palestine.
